Place: Peninsula Creamery (Fountain & Grill) 566 Emerson Ave. (at Hamilton) Palo Alto CA 650.323.3131 http://sfrestaurants.epinions.com/rest-review-69BD-746B63D-395C1992-prod3 http://www.jordan.palo-alto.ca.us/department/public/art~mmedia/webpage1/creamery.html Description: Yes, we're completely nuts to think of taking a KW here. Deal. :-) Welcome back to the 50's, when Mom made meatloaf off the back of a Hunt's tomato paste can and people were proud to put the word "sugar" in cereal names. Comfort phood for old pharts, and maybe for some of the young'uns too-- toasted cheese sandwich with grilled tomato, maybe? Corned beef on rye with thousand island dressing and a cherry coke? Or perhaps just an insanely malted chocolate malt to buzz you through your evening? Don't forget to stock up on Pez and BlackJack gum on the way out. [Review by SRC] KW has never been to the Peninsula Creamery. Directions: Freeway: Take your favorite method to University Ave (off 101, probably), and head away from the bay, "peninsula west" which is technically south at that point, since the setting sun will be right in front of you going up 101. Nevermind. Just go up University until you get to Middlefield, take a left onto Middlefield, and then a right onto Emerson. Go up Emerson almost until it dead-ends at Alma. That will be easier than trying to go up University all the way! There's parking at the Caltrain station across Alma, but they do charge for it (and check!) in the evenings. Transit: Caltrain stop "University", head toward downtown Palo Alto for one or two blocks and then turn rightward on Hamilton until you get to Emerson. [Directions by SRC]
