Description

    The King's Head offers an array of British food.  Portions are large.
    They have burgers as well as more traditional fare like shepherd's pie,
    bangers, fish and chips (the whole fish, my favorite) and the like.  
    Their veggie fritters are quite yummy, mushrooms, onions and some other
    stuff;  Vegetarians can also check out their mushy peas, get a veg burger,
    or order side veggies on a plate.  Their baked potatoes are *huge*.  The
    soup's fine - I don't eat salads here, so I can't comment to those.  The
    Ginger Beer here is excellent.  As can be expected of British food,
    spicing is mild if it exists at all.

    You can easily spend less than $8 if you like appetizers, their soup is
    about $3.  Entrees average around 7 to 10 dollars - some more fanciful 
    items are around $16 or so - but if you insist you could spend as much 
    as $40 for an incredible Beef Wellington big enough for two people.
    Well, *they* say it's for two people.  Three people probably wouldn't
    have a problem polishing it off, either.

    They are also open daytime and have a nice patio.  At times they have
    live music of celtic or highlands style, usually on the weekends,  Annwn
    has played here before.

     Short
        Downtown Historic Campbell basically has three main streets: Campbell
        is a two way street down the center, the street to the north goes
        one-way bayward/west, and the street to the south - Orchard City 
        Drive - goes one-way anti-bayward/east.  This area is an old style
        walking-mall, with small shops and many food places.  

       (I have to get a map for x-street stuff, or go over there)
        If you're walking the main street cut south when you see Molly 
        McGuire's, you won't be too far away.

        The pub is directly across from the water tower, and shares a 
        parking lot with Guiseppe's, an Italian restaurant.

        There is plenty of street parking as well, no meters here, and
        another (tiny) lot by the cards shop on the north side of Campbell 
        itself just before the railroad tracks.

        From the Bascom direction, you'll have to cross the railroad
        tracks, and I recommend staying to the center because there's 
        usually less parking over by City Hall, and you're going the
        wrong way to get on Orchard City Drive. 

     Public Transit
        The VTA 26 goes right past there.  You can meet it at the Lockheed 
        Martin, Borregas, Crossman, or Fair Oaks light rail stations, and
        it heads down Fair Oaks and Wolfe;  you could probably walk to
        it from the Sunnyvale train station if you like walking. If you 
        ride the 26 in from Eastridge, exit at Campbell City Hall and
        then walk south.  If you ride it in from Sunnyvale etc, it's on
        the right street when it gets there.  Just tell the driver you're
        going to Downtown Historic Campbell, and prepare to exit at the
        Water Tower (which has some oldstyle office buildings); you should 
        do all right.

     Long
        The Downtown Historic area is bayward of Bascom and anti-bayward
        of San Tomas Expressway.  You can use the 880/17 Hwy exit at 
        Hamilton and cut over to either one, turn right, then head 
        downtown when they get to Campbell (about two lights).

        Folks who feel more comfortable with the 85 can exit onto either:
        * Exit De Anza, head south about a block, turn left onto Prospect.
        * Exit Saratoga, turn left to head north a few long blocks, turn
          right onto Prospect.

        Prospect becomes Campbell as it passes the shopping centers of
        Westgate Mall and El Paseo De Saratoga... provided you are staying
        in the right hand lanes. If you are in the fast lanes you will end
        up on Hamilton instead, so pay attention.  Once you have passed
        the malls it becomes mixed residential and commercial for awhile.
        
        As you pass San Tomas Expressway you should get back to the right,
        although this is less critical -- it will get you onto Orchard City
        Drive though, and that's handy for spotting the pub.  The center
        lane will force you onto Campbell, more because traffic is not 
        usually friendly about letting folks over, tham from the street
        itself.
        
        Lawrence Expressway also meets Prospect at the Saratoga intersection.
        
        280 drivers can exit Saratoga and come down Prospect/Campbell, 
        or Bascom and head only a short distance bayward.

        For all others I recommend you use your favorite method to get
        to one of these junctures.  It may be useful to know that Lawrence
        Expressway is called Quito Road from the Los Gatos direction.
