(I believe it is owned and operated by a Croatian family.) The menu is balanced among beef, veal, chicken, and fish, with a number of daily specials on the back page of the menu. Most dinners are meat/fish-based, but vegetarians can probably find something tasty among the pasta items. Entrees are in the $10-15 range; appetizers and salads in the $3-5 range. Some favourite items include prime rib (when available; possibly weekends only), rack of lamb, chicken breast in a cream sauce, French onion soup, and the Grand Marnier souffle. Beer and wine are available; possibly a full bar. Some good wine choices include Geyser Peak and Benziger merlots, and Stags Leap cabernet. Kabuki last attended Del Monte in August, '99. [Review by MCB] Directions: Short: The Del Monte is on Murphy Street, the old restored downtown shopping/eating/bars/clubs street of Sunnyvale. It's at the north end near the train station, at the corner of Murphy and Evelyn. Public Transit: Across the street from the Sunnyvale CalTrain station. There may be buses on El Camino Real and/or Evelyn. Any bus stopping at the Sunnyvale CalTrain station is a winner. Long: 101 to Matilda Ave. Sunnyvale, then south on Matilda across Central Expwy and turn left on Washington (the street between the Town & Country Village and the Sunnyvale Town Center shopping centers). About 3-4 blocks turn left on Murphy; Del Monte is at the end of the block on the right. From El Camino Real just take Sunnyvale Ave. north (that's the continuation of Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd.) to Washington, then left one block and right on Murphy. Parking Note: This is a congested bar/restaurant area, but there are large parking lots behind Murphy on both sides. Also the Macy's lot at the end of Sunnyvale Town Center is a good bet, as is the Town & Country Village parking. [Directions by MCB] - RichardT
