Description
La Mediterranee has something for everyone on its menu. Meat eaters
will enjoy the kabob dishes (which are served with a tasty rice
pilaf), and a variety of chicken and lamb phyllo items. Vegetarians
also have an ample selection, including the levant sandwich, spinach
phyllo and quiches. There are many combination dishes to suit the
adventuresome, many of which come in vegetarian formats. The
specialty of the house is the Mediterranean Meza (which is served to a
minimum of two people.) It has a sampling of a wide variety of menu
items, and is a true bargain feast at $10 per person. La Mediterranee
also has a nice variety of appetizers and salads, and usually has an
interesting daily special.
Entree prices range from $7 to $10, and value for the $ is high.
Directions
From the East Bay
Take 80 West to 101 North, and follow the South Bay directions, below.
From the South Bay
Take 101 North, bearing left (on 101) at the 101/80 split.
Take the dual Duboce/Mission St. exit, getting on Duboce (left lane).
Get in the middle lane, following Duboce out to Market.
Bear left onto Market. Take Market west down to the Market/16th/Noe
intersection, making a right onto Noe. The restaurant is near the
corner, on the left. There is a small parking garage above the Market
St. Tower Records, the entrance to which is on Noe, on the right side.
Bart
Take BART to the 16th/Mission station. Exit the station and head
west six major blocks on 16th to Market/Noe/16th. The restaurant
is on the far side of Market. NOTE: Some people find getting off at
the 16th/Mission BART station an exercise in poor judgement.
Caltrain
Take Caltrain North to the 4th/Townsend station. Take the 30 bus
(departing kitty-corner from the train station) to Market. Take Muni
from the Powell St. Station down to the Castro St. Station, walking
back east along Market one block to Market/Noe/16th.
