in San Francisco

Place

La Mediterranee
288 Noe
San Francisco

Description

La Mediterranee has something for everyone on its menu. Meat eaters will enjoy the kabob dishes (which are served with a tasty rice pilaf), and a variety of chicken and lamb phyllo items. Vegetarians also have an ample selection, including the levant sandwich, spinach phyllo and quiches. There are many combination dishes to suit the adventuresome, many of which come in vegetarian formats. The specialty of the house is the Mediterranean Meza (which is served to a minimum of two people.) It has a sampling of a wide variety of menu items, and is a true bargain feast at $10 per person. La Mediterranee also has a nice variety of appetizers and salads, and usually has an interesting daily special.

Entree prices range from $7 to $10, and value for the $ is high.

Directions

From the East Bay

Take 80 West to 101 North, and follow the South Bay directions, below.

From the South Bay

Take 101 North, bearing left (on 101) at the 101/80 split. Take the dual Duboce/Mission St. exit, getting on Duboce (left lane). Get in the middle lane, following Duboce out to Market. Bear left onto Market. Take Market west down to the Market/16th/Noe intersection, making a right onto Noe. The restaurant is near the corner, on the left. There is a small parking garage above the Market St. Tower Records, the entrance to which is on Noe, on the right side.

Bart

Take BART to the 16th/Mission station. Exit the station and head west six major blocks on 16th to Market/Noe/16th. The restaurant is on the far side of Market. NOTE: Some people find getting off at the 16th/Mission BART station an exercise in poor judgement.

Caltrain

Take Caltrain North to the 4th/Townsend station. Take the 30 bus (departing kitty-corner from the train station) to Market. Take Muni from the Powell St. Station down to the Castro St. Station, walking back east along Market one block to Market/Noe/16th.
