This Event:

	Wed 4/12:	Paradise, Mountain View

Coming Events:

Wed 4/19:	Passage to India, Mountain View

Time:

	Wednesday, April 12th, 7:30pm

Place:

	Paradise Cafe
	1350 Grant Road
	Mountain View

Description:

Paradise has a large number of meat dishes (beef, lamb, chicken) but also
has a variety of vegetarian offerings. Rice is included with virtually
every dish, but the meat dishes do not include vegetables. Some of the
rice offerings are flavoured with a variety of interesting choices, for
example, sweet and sour cherries. They do have grilled tomatoes available
as a side dish, but I was not impressed with the tomatoes the last time
I was there - they tasted overripe. Their kabobs are wonderful - get the
chicken/sirloin combination. Also, they offer two Persian sherbets,
mint (sekanjabin) and cherry - these are drinks, not desserts, and they're
very nice. They have also been expanding their menu to
include more Afghan dishes, although at the expense of my
favorite appetizer, the Cheese and Herbs dish.

Entree prices range from $9 to $15. Kebabs and rice dishes tend to be
at the low end of the range.

Kabuki was last at Paradise on November 4th

Directions:

    Short:
Paradise is at the corner of Phyllis and Grant in Mountain View; Grant
road turns into 237 as it crosses El Camino heading towards the bay.

    Public Transit:
Paradise is mere blocks from El Camino on Grant Road. Your best bet
is to take CalTrain down the peninsula (if you're starting in/near SF),
and then walk to El Camino (away from the bay) from the Mountain View
train station, and take the 22 (El Camino) bus to Grant road (away from
SF), and then walk the several more blocks to Phyllis (again, away from
	the bay).

    Long:
From the East bay, take 880 south to 237, then 237 west until it turns
into a city street (Grant Road). You will pass El Camino (its large
and well marked), and there will be the proverbial minimall on your
left. The next actual intersection will be Phyllis; turn right and
turn into the parking lot next to the restaurant.
From the City or Mid-Peninsula, take 101 south to Moffet Blvd. Turn
toward the ocean onto Moffet, and continue through downtown Mountain
View to El Camino. Turn left and continue on El Camino to Grant. Turn
Right, pass the aforementioned mini-mall, and turn right and into the
	lot next to the restaurant.
