Place:

    Fondue Fred
    2556 Telegraph Ave
    Berkeley

Description:
While it's still (hopefully) warm outside, we've decided to go to
one of my favorite places for Kabuki, Fondue Fred's. Fondue Fred
has a fixed price dinner (somewhere around $12/person) where they
will serve one as much fondue as one can eat. They serve a
variety of fondues, vegetable and meat, plus the various
traditional cheese fondues. The chocolate fondue for desert is
wonderful (if you are a person who likes chocolate).

Seating is in a indoor courtyard on picnic tables, and is kind of
    cozy and family style.

The prices for KW average around something like $12-$14 for a
    meal, plus more for drinks.

Kabuki-West was last at Fondue Fred on July 16th, 1997.

Directions:

    Short:
Fondue Fred's is a little bit more than one block south
of Dwight Way on Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley. On the west
side of the street, downstairs of the New Dehli Junction
	in a mini-mall.

    BART:
Get off at the Berkeley station. Go out the main exit (the
one with escalators to the ground floor). This will put you
right next to (almost under) the metal dome-thing which is the
cover to the BART underground in Berkeley. Cross Shattuck Ave.
Walk in the same direction as you just crossed the street to
Oxford Ave. Take a right. Follow Oxford to Bancroft; and
take a left. Walk up Bancroft to Telegraph. Fondue Fred's
will be on your right (in a mini-mall, below the New Delhi
Junction) in aboout six blocks, a little more than a block
	after you pass Dwight Way.

    Long:
	** From south of Berkeley**
Get to the 51st and Telegraph Ave exit on CA Hwy 24. Remember
that I980 is also Hwy 24, at least for the section we are
concerned with. When you get off the exit, take a right (onto
51st St.), then get into the left lane and take a left onto
Telegraph Ave. Take Telegraph Ave. north into Berkeley. New
Delhi Junction will be on your left several blocks after you
pass Ashby Ave, in a mini-mall (below New Dehli Junction).

	**From I80**
The best I80 exit to take is the University Ave. exit. As
soon as you get off the exit, take a right (at the first
light). This is Sixth St. Follow Sixth St. to Dwight Way,
which is the light just after a strange bend to the left in
Sixth St. Follow Dwight Way for quite a distance, passing San
Pablo Ave., Sacramento Ave., MLK Way, and Shattuck Ave. Take
a right on Telegraph Ave, which is about five blocks from
Shattuck Ave. Fondue Fred's will be on your right in a
mini-mall in about a block and a half (below New Dehli
	Junction).

	**From Berkeley**
This is Telegraph Ave., about 5 blocks south of Sather Gate.
You should know how to find it.

    Parking Note:
Parking is *hard* to find in this part of Berkeley. There is
often parking on the side streets, but if you don't want to
hassle with that and don't mind walking a couple of blocks,
there is the University-owned lot just east of Telegraph
between Channing and Haste ($2.50 flat fee), and also a
public lot between Channing and Durant just west of Telegraph
	Ave. ($0.75/hr).
