Time: Wednesday, September 30th, 7:30pm Place: Kuleto's Trattoria 1095 Rollins Road Burlingame Description: Kuleto's Trattoria is another one of Pat Kuleto's (Kuleto & McCormick, Buffalo Grill, etc.) wildly successful, loud, friendly restaurants -- this one with a California-Italian theme. Portions are large, service is cheerful and not snooty, and the cooking is great. Entrees are in the $12-$18 range, mostly. Choices for vegetarians vary, but you can ask your server for modifications to menu dishes. The signature dishes are a side platter of grilled vegetables ($8.95), meant to be shared, and the Antipasti Misto, a generous appetizer plate of meats, peppers, olives, and cheeses. Two of my favourite main courses are the braised lamb shank (served on a bed of Tuscan white beans, but since I don't eat beans the kitchen whipped up a nice tomato-garlic sauce) and the chicken breast stuffed with herbed ricotta. Good desserts -- especially the creme brulee. The wine list is adequate, but a little overpriced, and the only other drawback is that there is no parking lot, thus valet parking only. There is limited street parking as well. Kabuki last attended Kuleto's on February 25th. They dealt with us exceptionally gracefully. Directions: Short: --Kuleto's Trattoria is on Rollins Road (101 westside frontage road) just south of the Broadway Burlingame exit. Long: --From the north (SF, East Bay), 101 to Broadway Burlingame, left immediately on Rollins Road, restaurant on right. --From the south, 101 north to Broadway Burlingame, follow signs on exit to "Broadway", which involved a more-than-360-degree right turn to get onto the overpass, then it looks like you get on the freeway southbound, then exit "Rollins Rd." just before getting onto 101. Yes, this is complex. At Rollins Rd., the restaurant is on the right, across from the freeway. --Public transit: CalTrain to Broadway Burlingame, walk east on Broadway (toward the bay) to Rollins Road (freeway frontage), turn right, restaurant on right, past the Cadillac dealer. - RichardT [Review and Directions by MCB]
