Maybe you could just rent a camp spot there.
Also, its mobile. Bad milage, I know, but

Travel away from the bus by bike.
You could camp at any forest or BLM spot for free.
Probably not too good for kids though.
Although, looking back to whenn I was a kid,
I would have loved it! :)
