A Workshop: Multi-Functional Hedgerows for Urban and Rural Settings Utilizing Native Plants Hedgerows are vital habitat to many native species of plants and animals. They are rows of trees, shrubs, ground cover, vines & herbs that divide or border fields, waterways, and/or suburban lots. Planting hedgerows provides food and shelter for birds and mammals whose homes are fast disappearing in our climate of development of wild spaces. Learn how to plant for our wild friends while producing food, useful materials, and beauty for ourselves as well. Morning: Lecture and discussion: Introduction, Design, Establishment, Maintenance. Afternoon: Implementation: Hands-on experience, plant selection, bed preparation, planting.
Instructor: Jude Hobbs is a horticulturist, permaculture designer, and instructor. She has written A Guide to Multi-Functional Hedgerows for O.S.U. Extension Service. Jude has taught throughout the West for 12 years. Fee: $50 - $60 (Sliding Scale), includes materials. For more info/to register: contact Carla at permiegirl@aol.com |
